The South Side Community Action Network (SSCAN) Neighbor Night
The South Side Community Action Network (SSCAN) is a community network organization revolving around Asset Based Community Development (ABCD)– local people working together for the wellbeing of their community.
- Why? After number of public meetings held in 2022 brought neighborhood issues to the table, a structure to implement Community Development was needed.
- How would we do it? A resident suggest ABCD as a tool and the wheels started turning.
- Who would do it? All of us- those that care enough to act!
A big component of ABCD is Neighbor Night! Please join us Tuesday, April 18th from 6PM-9PM at the Historic South Side Market House for our first Neighbor Night!
Neighbor Night has four main parts:
- Check-In: we want to hear what’s new and good with you.
- Business of the Network: brief 20 minute small group conversations for neighbors to share interest or concerns in a healthy and productive environment.
- Marketplace: Share with your neighbors. You can make an offer (something to share), or a request (something you need), or a declaration (something you’ll do). It’s fun and allows you to help someone in the neighborhood or get some help if you need it!
- Bump and Spark! Time to network and chat. Food and drinks will be provided.
If you would like more information about the SSCAN or Neighbor Night, please contact Don Berman donaldberman@gmail.com . Don is a South Side flats resident and is volunteering his time to get SSCAN off to a great start.
